Udupi, Dec 24: After posing a serious risk to motorists for several days, repair work has finally begun on a damaged manhole located on the busy Kalsanka–Ambagilu Road near Silas School in Udupi. The damaged manhole had forced commuters to drive cautiously, causing inconvenience and raising safety concerns, especially for two-wheeler riders.
The manhole was damaged during the monsoon season on the stretch between Kalsanka and Ambagilu. Although temporary repairs were carried out after the monsoon, the manhole remained damaged for a long period despite repeated complaints. With heavy vehicular traffic using this stretch daily, motorists continued to face persistent difficulties.

Several incidents were reported in which two-wheeler riders fell and sustained injuries, particularly during night hours due to poor visibility. The delay in carrying out permanent repairs had led to growing public concern.
Following repeated news reports by Daijiworld.com, the concerned departments took note of the issue and have now commenced repair work at the site. While the work is underway, commuters are awaiting its early completion to ensure the safe and smooth movement of vehicles.
