Mangaluru, Dec 22: St Sebastian English Medium School, Permannur celebrated ‘Roots and Rhythms – Traditional Day 2025’ with great enthusiasm at St Sebastian Church Auditorium on December 17.
The programme highlighted the rich cultural heritage of the country. Tulu Nadu Vaibhava was also showcased, bringing out the unique traditions and cultural richness of the Tulu region. Programmes related to all religions were presented, promoting unity, harmony, and mutual respect.

Students presented various traditional performances with great dedication. An exhibition of old traditional items was also arranged, which helped students understand the lifestyle and heritage of earlier generations.
The programme was presided over by Fr Cyprian Pinto, Correspondent, St Sebastian Educational Institutions.
The chief guest, Abdul Kareem, district sadar, Jamaat-e-Islam Hind, appreciated the traditional programmes and was highly impressed by the cultural performances and the exhibition.
Deepa Sunil, lecturer at St Sebastian PU College, expressed her happiness and said that traditions should be kept alive not just for one day, but practiced in daily lives.
Reena Joseph Walter was felicitated on her 24 years of services and getting retired from teaching profession.
The guests of honour included Fr Melwin D’Souza, assistant parish priest, St Sebastian Church, Permannur. Arun D’Souza, vice president, Parish Pastoral Council; and Jyothi D’Souza, secretary, Parish Pastoral Council, St Sebastian Church, Permannur.
The headmistress, Sr Jyothika B S was the backbone of this programme, whose guidance, planning, and constant support ensured the smooth and successful conduct of the event.
The celebration truly reflected unity in diversity and made the day memorable for all.
