Patna, Dec 22: The Congress has decided to launch a comprehensive campaign to revive the party in Bihar following its dismal performance in the recent Assembly elections, with a renewed focus on strengthening the organisation at the grassroots level.
Party sources said the campaign will begin after the inauspicious period of Kharmas ends on January 14. The initiative aims to empower the organisation down to the panchayat level, identify structural weaknesses and infuse fresh energy among party workers.

As part of the revival exercise, senior and experienced Congress leaders will camp in different districts and conduct an in-depth review of party activities from the district to the panchayat level. Based on these assessments, a concrete action plan will be drawn up for the party’s future course.
The campaign will be rolled out in a phased manner across the state. In each district, teams of senior leaders will stay for a few days to evaluate organisational strength at the district, block and panchayat levels. The review will include booth-level preparedness, progress of the membership drive and an analysis of the reasons behind the party’s poor electoral performance.
Direct interaction with local leaders and workers will be a key focus during the district camps. Party workers will be encouraged to openly share their concerns, offer suggestions and highlight local issues so that shortcomings can be addressed effectively.
Senior leaders will also identify areas where the organisational structure is weak and assess the need for restructuring. Special emphasis will be placed on identifying inactive office-bearers, assigning responsibilities to committed workers and giving a more effective role to the Yuva Congress and Mahila Congress.
In the last Assembly elections, the Congress managed to win only six of the 61 seats it contested, prompting the leadership to initiate a fresh and sustained effort to rebuild the party in Bihar.
