Udupi, Dec 17: Glowinstar Integrated School conducted its annual sports day with great enthusiasm and spirited participation on Dec 16, at the school playground.
The programme commenced on a grand and ceremonial note as the school band led the principal, Dr T J Quadros; headmistress, Shantha Fernandes; head boy, Namith Shetty; and head girl, Fadwa Ashraf, who proudly escorted the chief guest, Sowmya Ganesh, to the stage with dignity and honour. The chief guest hoisted the sports flag, symbolising true sportsmanship, discipline, and fair play.
The march past by the four houses, led by the house prefects, was a splendid display of discipline, coordination, and team spirit. The excitement heightened as the sports champions ceremoniously lit the torch, representing determination and the undying spirit of sportsmanship, and handed it over to the chief guest.
The annual sports meet was officially declared open with the release of colourful balloons by the chief guest. Following this, the sports captain, Pranav Poojary, administered the oath of sportsmanship, which was taken by the house prefects, pledging fairness, integrity, and respect for the game.





















The chief guest, Sowmya Ganesh, addressed the gathering with an inspiring speech that motivated the students to pursue excellence in all spheres of life. This was followed by a motivational address by the principal, Dr T J Quadros, who emphasised the importance of discipline, perseverance, and hard work as the foundation of success.
The most anticipated segment of the day was the sports events that filled the playground with boundless energy and excitement. A variety of track and field events, including running races, discus throw, javelin throw, and shot put, were conducted. Students participated with remarkable enthusiasm, determination, and exemplary sportsmanship. The simultaneous prize distribution ceremony further encouraged the participants and celebrated their achievements.
The true icing on the cake was the thrilling relay race, where all four houses—Lily, Lotus, Daffodils, and Rose displayed outstanding teamwork, coordination, and strategic planning. The smooth execution of events reflected the spirit of unity, cooperation, and healthy competition that defines the school.
The annual sports day concluded on a triumphant note, beautifully echoing the proverb, “Success comes to those who work hard and never give up.”
