Mangaluru, Dec 12: A two-day managerial skill development programme for employees of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL) was organised by the department of MBA, School of Business and Management, AIMIT Centre, St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), on December 10 and 11 at the AIMIT Beeri campus.
The programme was inaugurated in the presence of Dr (Fr) Kiran Coth SJ, director of AIMIT; Devesh Dubey, GM–HR, MRPL; Dr Rajani Suresh, dean, School of Business and Management; Ritu Raj, manager–HR; Poonam Shetty, junior officer–training, MRPL; and Aman Kumar, assistant executive, along with faculty members, staff and participants. The event began with a prayer by the college choir and was compered by Dr Annette Maben. Dr Rajani Suresh delivered the welcome address, followed by the lighting of the lamp.








In his inaugural remarks, Dr (Fr) Kiran Coth SJ highlighted the importance of resilience during uncertainty, drawing inspiration from the TATA Group’s internal motto. He emphasised that continuous learning is essential for staying 'employment ready and employment worthy', and underscored the need for critical thinking, leadership and communication skills.
Day 1 featured sessions by Devesh Dubey and Shabina Soans on training and employee development. Afternoon sessions, led by Dr Rajani Suresh and Dr Annette Maben, focused on enhancing workplace engagement and fostering a sense of flow through agile approaches.
On Day 2, Dr Justine James and Dr Swapna Rose led pre-noon sessions on organisational commitment, peer involvement and cultivating a culture of quality and cost consciousness. The afternoon session by Dr Steevan D’Souza explored leading a value-driven life and building value-based organisations.
During the valedictory session, participants praised the quality and relevance of the training, noting that the insights gained would positively impact their professional and personal lives.
