Mangaluru: GFGC, Kavoor celebrates World Consumer Day

Mangaluru, Mar 16: Consumer protection is a general topic which is given less importance in the market driven environment. In the technologically advanced market a customer stands at cross roads without knowing the right path to move ahead.

In this context awareness among the consumers about various legal issues relating to consumer affairs needs to be created. World Consumer Day which is celebrated throughout the world to bring about awareness in the area of consumer education.

Jagrathi Consumer Club in joint collaboration with Commerce & Management & IQAC of GFGC, Kavoor celebrated World Consumer Day on March 14. Parimala Rao, advocate, Mangaluru was the guest of the day who enlightened the students about their rights & the legal procedure to claim relief in the case of defective goods or services or in the times of deception by the traders. She encouraged the students to be careful while buying & to be ready to exercise their rights as consumers.

Principal Dr Geetha M L, in her presidential remark explained different consumer related issues by sharing her own experience.

Dr Therese Pereira, IQAC coordinator and convener of consumer club, Jyothi Shetty, convener of commerce and management association, the student secretaries Ashik Poojary, III BBA and Umesh Ihole, III BCom were presenton the stage. Lavanya of III BCom compered the programme, Umesh Iholi, III BCom welcomed the gathering and Ashik, III BBA proposed vote of thanks.
