Mangaluru, Dec 6: Expert PU College, Kodialbail, hosted an inspiring Alum Talk by its distinguished alumnus, Mithun H N, IPS, DCP (Law & Order), Mangaluru, at the college’s Expodium.
The session, themed “Opportunities in Civil Services,” drew an enthusiastic response from students eager to learn about careers in governance and administration.
Mithun recounted his journey from being a student at Expert PU College to becoming an IPS officer, providing students with a realistic and motivating perspective on the dedication and perseverance required to succeed in one of India’s toughest examinations.



He elaborated on prestigious civil services such as the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and Indian Foreign Service (IFS), explaining their roles, responsibilities, and the significant impact these services have on society.
Emphasising the importance of hard work, he urged students not to be deterred by the challenges involved. “It is absolutely worth cracking IPS, even though it is a hard path,” he said, inspiring students to dream ambitiously and pursue their goals with resilience.
Mithun also encouraged students to explore the expanding opportunities in today’s dynamic job market. He stressed the value of staying alert and well-informed, advising students to cultivate a habit of reading newspapers regularly and keeping up with national and global developments. He highlighted that the present generation is exceptionally fortunate to have vast information at their fingertips through the internet and urged students to use this advantage wisely.
A significant highlight of the event was the inauguration of the Child Rights Club, “Right Guardians,” by Mithun. The club aims to promote awareness of child rights, responsibility, and advocacy among students. Prizes were also awarded to the winners of a slogan-writing competition. The programme was compered by Vanshika of the KC1 section.
The talk was attended by Ankush N Nayak, IT director, principal Prof Ramachandra Bhat, and other faculty members. The event concluded with an interactive session during which students eagerly posed questions, making the session both engaging and impactful.
