10 Canacona taxi operators booked for abusing Quepem driver

Canacona, Nov 22: Ten taxi operators in Canacona have been booked for wrongfully restraining and abusing a taxi driver from Quepem, police said.

According to Canacona police, Mayur Rane of Sirvoi-Quepem lodged a complaint stating that his driver, Shaheed Abdul Majid Betkari, was blocked and verbally abused by Viraj Pagi and nine other taxi drivers while picking up customers from a resort at Palolem on Tuesday.

Acting on the complaint, Canacona police registered cases against the ten taxi operators under Sections 189(2), 126(2), and 352 read with 190 of the BNS 2023. ASI Anand Naik is investigating the matter.
