Delhi teen fatally injured in road accident in North Goa; driver arrested

Panaji, Nov 19: An 18-year-old Delhi resident, Lavanya Joon, tragically passed away while receiving treatment following a road accident in Porvorim on Tuesday.

North Goa Superintendent of Police Rahul Gupta stated that head constable Vivekanand Divkar, filing the complaint on behalf of the state, alleged that 22-year-old Malik Khatib was driving recklessly near Holy Family Church, Porvorim, endangering human life.

Gupta explained that Khatib, traveling from Mapusa to Porvorim on NH 66, collided with another vehicle attempting to turn into an inner road. The passengers of the second vehicle, including Joon, were injured. Lavanya Joon sustained severe injuries and later succumbed to them while undergoing medical treatment.

The police have confirmed that Malik Khatib has been arrested in connection with the incident.
