Mumbai, Nov 12: While hosting the FICCI Young Leaders’ Summit on Wednesday, BJP leader Ashish Shelar called upon the youth of Mumbai to play a pivotal role in India’s path toward becoming a developed nation by 2047. Speaking to a gathering of young entrepreneurs and industry leaders, Shelar emphasised that India’s future is being shaped by the energy and innovation of its 140 crore citizens under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Shelar highlighted Mumbai, and specifically Bandra, as a “symbol of progress” where national ideas often take root before spreading across the country. “Whatever is decided and designed in Bandra always paves the path for achievement. From financial reforms to cultural movements, Mumbai has always shown the way for the nation,” he said, drawing applause from attendees including Harsh Agarwal and Shashwat Goenka.

The BJP leader underscored the importance of blending innovation with India’s cultural heritage. “We cannot forget our legacy,” he said. “India has a rich history of innovation, culture, and resilience. The journey from Virasat se Vikas tak (from heritage to progress) must be our shared goal.” He added that development should not be measured solely by GDP but also by inclusivity and the nation’s happiness index.

Calling India’s youth the country’s “democratic dividend,” Shelar stressed the need to guide Gen Z with purpose. “If Gen Z is not rightly motivated or given meaningful goals, societies risk falling into chaos,” he warned. He encouraged young leaders to plan strategically for both immediate innovation and long-term transformation, noting that their vision and efforts will determine India’s global standing by 2047.

Shelar concluded by urging the youth to channel their creativity and ambition in alignment with India’s growth story. “India’s youth are ready to lead global innovation. When we celebrate 100 years of independence, we must proudly present a developed Bharat to the world,” he said.
