Fear grips Ozrim village after leopard kills 11 calves in three months

Daijiworld Media Network - Pernem

Pernem, Nov 6: Panic has spread across Ozrim village in Pernem after a series of leopard attacks over the past three months left 11 calves dead.

Residents say repeated pleas to the authorities have gone unanswered. Local villager Rajaram Ramesh Naik said several written complaints had been submitted, but the Forest Department has yet to take concrete action.

“Many times, letters have been inwarded to the department, but till date they have failed to install a cage to trap the leopard,” Naik said.

The village, surrounded by dense forest, now lives in fear — especially parents of schoolchildren who walk through isolated stretches every day.

Villagers have urged the Forest Department to immediately deploy traps and take strong measures to protect both people and livestock.
