Margao, Nov 4: A pall of gloom once again descended on the Margao Municipal Council (MMC) on Monday following the tragic death of municipal driver Parshuram Talwar in a road accident near the Margao railway station.

This is the second death of an MMC driver within a week. Just days earlier, driver Raju Madekar had passed away due to a cardiac arrest at Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Bambolim, after accompanying Margao Civic Chief Damu Shirodkar to Panaji.

According to Margao police, the latest accident occurred around 1.15 am on Monday in front of the railway station when a Yamaha motorcycle and an Aviator scooter collided.

The victim, 38-year-old Parshuram Talwar, a resident of Davorlim, was riding the scooter and suffered grievous injuries in the impact. He was immediately rushed to GMCH, Bambolim, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Police have registered a case of motor vehicle accident, and a post-mortem report confirmed the cause of death as “head injury with multiple bone fractures.”

The body was later handed over to Talwar’s family for the final rites. His untimely death has cast a shadow of grief over his colleagues and the civic body, already mourning the loss of another staff member just a week ago.
