Two women assaulted in separate incidents in Pune; police arrest one accused, hunt on for another

Pune, Nov 4: In two separate shocking incidents reported in Pune city, women and girls were allegedly harassed and assaulted in public places. Police have arrested one accused and launched a search for another with the help of CCTV footage.

In the first case, a young woman was chased and sexually assaulted while taking an evening walk near the Nanded City area on Sinhagad Road. The incident occurred on Saturday night when the woman stepped out of her home after dinner.

According to police sources, an unidentified man who was sitting on a roadside bench suddenly began following her. A few moments later, he allegedly grabbed her hand and attempted to assault her sexually. The woman’s loud screams alerted bystanders, prompting the accused to flee from the scene.

A case has been registered at the Nanded City Police Station, and efforts are underway to identify and trace the suspect using CCTV footage from the area.

In a second incident reported from the Vishrantwadi area, another accused allegedly misbehaved with a schoolgirl under the pretext of offering her a ride on his two-wheeler. Police acted swiftly and detained the accused, confirming that an investigation is in progress.

Officials said both cases are being treated with utmost seriousness, and special teams have been formed to ensure that the culprits are brought to justice.
