Paudewadi, Nov 3: A horrifying murder has shocked Paudewadi village near the city, where a 22-year-old youth was brutally hacked to death with sharp weapons by a group of men late Saturday night. The attack is believed to have stemmed from an old dispute over a financial transaction that occurred a year ago.

The deceased has been identified as Ritesh Pawde, a resident of Paudewadi. Police have taken two brothers, Keshav and Digambar Pawde, into custody on suspicion of involvement in the murder.

According to police, Ritesh had an ongoing feud with the two accused over a monetary issue that had led to a physical altercation last year. Both parties had filed complaints against each other at the Bhagyanagar Police Station at that time.

On Saturday night, Ritesh had gone out for dinner with friends at a local hotel. Around 1:30 a.m., while returning home on his motorcycle, he was confronted by the suspects near the entrance of the village. A heated argument broke out, following which the assailants allegedly attacked him with sharp-edged weapons, inflicting deep wounds on his hands, chest, abdomen, and head.

Ritesh collapsed in a pool of blood and succumbed to his injuries before he could be taken to the hospital. The brutal incident has sent shockwaves through the village.

Upon receiving information, Additional Superintendent of Police Suraj Gurav, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Vyajane, and Police Inspector Santosh Tambe rushed to the scene. Before his death, Ritesh reportedly named Keshav and Digambar as his attackers.

Police have detained both suspects and are investigating whether more individuals were involved in the crime. A case of murder has been registered at Bhagyanagar Police Station.

The tragic death of the young man has cast a pall of grief over Paudewadi village.
