Mumbai, Oct 27: Young and dynamic Billawa leader Suryakant J Suvarna has been unanimously elected as the new president of the Rashtriya Billawa Mahamandala. The election took place during the organisation’s annual general meeting held on Sunday, October 25, at the Jai C Suvarna Hall in Mulki.
Prior to this, Suryakant J Suvarna served as the vice president of the Rashtriya Billawa Mahamandala. He currently holds the position of executive chairman of Bharat Co-operative Bank (Mumbai) Ltd.

Profile of Suryakant J Suvarna
Suryakant, the elder son of the late world-renowned Billawa leader, philanthropist, and financial expert Jai C Suvarna and Leelavathi Jai Suvarna, has been actively involved in social service for several years. He has three younger brothers — Subhash, Dinesh, and Yogesh.
He completed his primary education at a boarding school in Panchgani and pursued higher studies at MVML College in Andheri, Mumbai. Later, he received commercial pilot training in Dallas, USA. Following the demise of his father, Suryakant took over his father’s social and business responsibilities, continuing his legacy with dedication.
He is married to Nishitha Suvarna, and the couple resides in Goregaon, Mumbai, with their two children, Vamika and Varish Suvarna.
Dedicated to social and community service
Suryakant is actively serving in several key positions, namely, member of the Sri Gokarnanath Development Committee, trustee of the Kudroli Sri Narayana Guru School Committee, and vice president of the Mumbai Committee of the Kapu Sri Hosa Marigudi Temple. He is also actively associated with various other social, cultural, and religious organisations, continuing his family’s legacy of service and contribution to society.
Since 2011, he has been part of the prestigious Billawa Association Mumbai, serving nine consecutive years on its Yuvabhivrudhi Sub-Committee. Since 2013, he has also been a director at Bharat Bank. In memory of his late father, he established the Jai C Suvarna Rotary Club Children’s Park in Mulki.
Additionally, Suryakant serves as a trustee of Sri Narayana Guru English Medium School, Mulki, trustee of Sri Kshetra Gejjegiri Nandan Bittal Temple, member of the Sri Gokarnanath Temple Kudroli Development Committee, vice president of the Kapu Sri Hosa Marigudi Temple Mumbai Committee, director of Jai Leela Private Ltd., trustee of Jai Leela Public Charitable Trust and Radhaleela Charitable Trust, and honorary president of the Malad Kurar Shaneshwara Temple.
Recognising his dedication and service, several organisations including the Kannadiga Journalists’ Association Maharashtra, Rainbow Budokan Karate Academy, and Maharashtra Karnataka Tulu Kannadiga Associations have honoured him for his contributions.

Expressing gratitude after his election, Suryakant said, “With the blessings of my family deity, Koti-Chennaya, and Brahmashri Narayana Guru, I have been bestowed with this great opportunity to serve. I extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who entrusted me with this responsibility. With the blessings, inspiration, and guidance of my parents, I will faithfully discharge this duty and dedicate myself to serving society.”
