Bidar, Oct 27: In a heart-wrenching incident in Mudhol (B) village of Kamalnagar taluk, an elderly couple passed away on the same day — united not only in life but also in death. The wife, who had been suffering from illness, passed away first, and upon hearing the news, her grief-stricken husband too breathed his last shortly after. The incident has deeply moved the entire village.
The couple, identified as Gundappa Hodage (85) and his wife Lakshmibai Hodage (83) of Mudhol (B), had lived together for over six decades. They shared a bond so strong that even death could not separate them.

Having spent nearly 60 to 70 years together, sharing love, faith, and companionship, the couple’s demise has left the villagers in tears. Both had been suffering from age-related ailments. Lakshmibai passed away first, and moments after learning of her death, Gundappa, unable to bear the shock or imagine life without her, also passed away within hours. Their story stands as a testament to their deep and inseparable bond.
The couple had lived a life filled with affection, resilience, and mutual support. They raised their children together, nurtured their family, and earned the respect of their community. Their love did not end with life — it continued even in death, symbolizing true togetherness. They have proved the saying, “One cannot live without the other.”
As soon as the news spread, relatives, friends, and villagers gathered in grief. The couple’s mortal remains were placed side by side and taken in a procession through the village before the final rites were performed. Thousands attended the funeral to pay their last respects, as tears flowed freely among family members and villagers.
