Rewa, Oct 23: A late-night road tragedy struck Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa district when two tractor-trolleys collided near Ambha village, about 35 km from the district headquarters, leaving at least three people dead and several others injured.

The victims were residents of Sar N.1 village under the Gangeo block. According to a family member, Rajput Saket, also known as Kallu, two of the deceased included his cousin. “Four of the injured are in critical condition and have been on ventilator support for nearly ten hours at Sanjay Gandhi Hospital,” Saket told IANS on Thursday. “Others sustained minor injuries.”

Medical officials confirmed that 12 people were admitted to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital (SGMH). Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. Saurabh Goyal reported that four patients remain in critical condition, with two referred to Jabalpur Medical College and Nagpur for specialized treatment.

The Saket family had been on their way to Sirmour to celebrate the birth of a baby boy — a joyous occasion that tragically turned into mourning. They had hired a tractor-trolley for the journey.

“As we reached Ambha village, another tractor coming from the opposite direction rammed into us. The impact threw people off the trolley,” Saket recounted. The opposing vehicle was reportedly loaded with wood meant for construction purposes. Around 25–30 people were said to be traveling in the trolley at the time of the crash.

Police teams quickly arrived at the accident site and transported the injured to SGMH, approximately 30 km away. Authorities have registered a case and launched an investigation into the cause of the collision.

By Thursday morning, the police confirmed that the involved tractor-trolley had been seized as part of the ongoing inquiry.
