Sitapur, Oct 19: In a shocking incident, a woman from Delhi attempted suicide inside a police station in Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur district after her nephew, with whom she was allegedly in a relationship, refused to continue their affair.

The woman, identified as Pooja Mishra, is married to Lalit Kumar Mishra and is the mother of two sons aged seven and six. According to police sources, Pooja developed a romantic relationship with her husband’s nephew, Alok Mishra, who is 15 years younger than her, while he was staying with their family to assist with household work.

When her husband discovered the affair, he sent Alok away. However, Pooja later left her husband and children and moved to Bareilly, where she and Alok reportedly lived together for around seven months.

Tensions arose between the two, prompting Alok to return to his native village in Sitapur. Pooja followed him there, leading to a dispute that reached the local police station.

During a mediation attempt at the police station, Alok reportedly told Pooja that he no longer wished to continue their relationship. Overcome with emotion, Pooja suddenly took out a blade and slit her wrist in front of officers, creating panic among those present.

Police personnel immediately rushed her to a nearby hospital, where she received initial treatment before being referred to Lucknow in critical condition.

Authorities are investigating the incident, and further details are awaited.
