New Delhi, Oct 17: Indian athlete and endurance adventurer Mann Sharma has etched his name in history by completing the world’s first-ever Burpee Marathon, covering the full marathon distance of 42.195 kilometres entirely through broad burpees over nine gruelling days at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi.

The incredible feat has been officially recognised by the World Book of Records, London, as a new world record — surpassing the previous best of 5.1 kilometres by more than eight times. Representatives from the organisation were present at the venue to certify the record and honour Sharma with the world record medal and certificate, marking a proud moment for India on the global stage.

Expressing his emotions after achieving the monumental milestone, Mann Sharma said, “This has been the most challenging and fulfilling experience of my life. My goal was to push the boundaries of human endurance and prove that consistency can make the impossible possible. This record isn’t just about fitness; it’s about purpose — to raise funds and awareness for The One Friend NGO, which supports the education of underprivileged children across India. Every burpee I performed was dedicated to a cause larger than myself.”

The Mann vs Burpees challenge, organised by Question Associates in collaboration with Fit India and officially recognised by the Sports Authority of India (SAI), showcased Sharma’s unmatched discipline and willpower. Over nine days, he lived and trained within the stadium premises, performing thousands of burpees daily to complete the marathon distance, inspiring millions to embrace fitness and social responsibility.

At the closing ceremony, Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, felicitated Mann Sharma for his record-breaking achievement. “Mann Sharma’s extraordinary accomplishment is a matter of immense pride for the nation. Completing a 42.195 km Burpee Marathon is not merely a record — it is a testament to human resilience and determination. His feat inspires India’s youth to believe that with dedication and purpose, no goal is beyond reach,” the minister said.

The event was also attended by dignitaries from the World Book of Records, including Apoorva Menon, Priya Sharma, Abhishek Kaushik, Mohit Sharma, and Divyata Shergill, who lauded Mann’s performance as a “phenomenal and unprecedented milestone in human endurance.”

Beyond records, Mann Sharma’s journey reflects his mission to combine athleticism with compassion. Having trained with elite football academies in Italy and Spain — including the Paolo Rossi Academy and Real Madrid Foundation Camp — he has previously undertaken several endurance-based social initiatives: running 100 km in 24 hours for the homeless, performing 29 hours of burpees for children’s education, walking 205 km from Delhi to Agra to raise awareness, and scaling Bali’s highest peaks to support suicide prevention efforts.

Mann Sharma’s achievement stands as a symbol of India’s growing spirit of fitness, perseverance, and purpose — proving that true strength lies as much in the heart as in the body.
