A day of sportsmanship and unity: SKMWA hosts 6th Peace Trophy Kabaddi Tournament 2025 Doha, Qatar

Doha, Oct 16: The South Kanara Muslim Welfare Association (SKMWA) Qatar proudly organized the 6th Peace Trophy Kabaddi Tournament 2025 at the Aspire Ladies Hall, bringing together teams, players, and supporters from across Qatar for a full day of spirited competition and camaraderie. Five teams, SKMWA Qatar, Tulukoota Qatar, Maisarakar, Markhiya Al Fifa and Sanskrit Qatar, battled across 12 thrilling matches, including league rounds, semifinals, and the grand finale.

The event commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Master Arhaan Anshar, followed by a welcome address by SKMWA president Imran Ahmed Bava. General secretary Rasheed Bambila led the oath-taking ceremony, emphasizing fairness and unity. Past presidents and senior members of SKMWA, along with Tulukoota Qatar’s President, jointly inaugurated the tournament.

Saleem Ali, serving as the Master of Ceremony (MC), beautifully anchored the day’s programme, maintaining an engaging and energetic atmosphere. Renowned Mangalore-based host Diwakar added excitement with his lively commentary, while referees Ratheesh Thokkottu and Aris Kalpane ensured professionalism and integrity throughout, we also appreciate Anil and Ramana for their dedication and valuable contributions to the Kabaddi event.

A felicitation ceremony honoured Ibrahim Beary and C K Firoz for their dedicated contributions to the association. The evening was graced by distinguished guests, including ICC President Manikantan, ISC President Abdul Rahman, and ICBF President Shanawaz Bawa, who joined community leaders to celebrate the spirit of brotherhood. Rasheed Kakkinje honored the late Hajji Mohammed Kunhi with a heartfelt tribute for his lifetime of service and dedication.

After an intense final, Tulukoota Qatar emerged as Champion, with SKMWA Qatar finishing as Runners-up. In his closing remarks, Rasheed Bambila expressed gratitude to all contributors, while president Imran Ahmed Bava commended the team’s unity and dedication. The event’s success was made possible by the tireless efforts of the executive committee vice president Mohammed Condana, treasurer Shamsheer, event secretary Sarfraz, sports secretary Ameer Hamza, event secretary Saleem Ullal, SKMWA team manager Shameer Punjalkatte and event secretary Ahmed Irfan.

The Peace Trophy 2025 once again highlighted SKMWA’s mission to promote unity, friendship, and the spirit of sports in Qatar.
