Mumbai, Oct 15: The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) have raised serious concerns over discrepancies in the state’s voter list, demanding corrections from the Election Commission and warning that elections should not be conducted until the errors are resolved.
On Wednesday, top leaders including Uddhav Thackeray, Raj Thackeray, Jayant Patil, Jitendra Awhad, Vijay Wadettiwar, Bala Saheb Thorat, and others met with Chief Electoral Officer Chokalingam and State Election Commissioner Dinesh Waghmare to highlight the issues.

The leaders pointed out multiple irregularities, such as incorrect addresses, house numbers, and duplicate entries. In Nashik, 813 voters were listed under a single house, while in Nalasopara, a woman named Sushma Gupta had six different EPIC IDs, which were later removed. Leaders questioned who authorized the removal and why.
MVA leaders alleged that the Election Commission’s server in Maharashtra might be under external control, raising concerns about the integrity of the voter list. Bala Saheb Thorat of Congress emphasized that holding elections with a flawed list could undermine public trust in democracy.
Raj Thackeray stated that the errors begin when political parties are denied access to the voter lists. Uddhav Thackeray added, “If elections are to be conducted with such discrepancies, then ‘Election for Selection’ should be done instead.”
The leaders have decided to wait for four to five days for a response from the Election Commission before taking further action.
