Sharm el-Sheikh, Oct 12: Three Qatari diplomats were killed and two others injured in a car crash on Sunday near the Egyptian resort town of Sharm el-Sheikh, the Qatari embassy confirmed.
The diplomats were in the town along with official delegations to negotiate a Gaza ceasefire and hostage release deal. Egyptian state-linked media reported that the vehicle, carrying five Qataris and an Egyptian driver, crashed after losing control of the steering wheel.

The Qatari embassy expressed “deep sorrow and grief” over the deaths and said the deceased and injured would be flown to Doha. The injured are receiving medical care at Sharm el-Sheikh International Hospital.
Sharm el-Sheikh is also set to host a peace summit starting Monday, chaired by US President Donald Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, with over 20 countries participating to discuss ending the Gaza conflict.
