Abu Dhabi, Oct 10: In a shocking turn of events, Hariraj Sudevan, 37, an Indian engineer working in the UAE, passed away from a heart attack on October 6, just hours after seeing off his wife and son at Abu Dhabi International Airport. The sudden death has left friends and family devastated.
Hariraj, a senior offshore construction engineer, had spent 12 years working in the UAE, including 11 years with a Dubai-based company. He was scheduled to attend his son Ishaan Dev Hari’s 10th birthday celebrations later this month.

Speaking to Gulf News, his father-in-law Ashokan KP expressed the family’s grief: “We are all devastated and finding it difficult to accept the reality that he is no more.” Hariraj’s daughter, Dr. Anu Ashok, and grandson had spent 10 days with him before returning to Kerala on the day of his death.
Hariraj’s close friend, Digin Thomas, recounted the events leading up to the tragedy. After dropping off his family, Hariraj visited Digin’s apartment to celebrate his friend’s daughter’s birthday. Around 11:40 PM, he suddenly felt unwell, complaining of breathing difficulties. Despite immediate CPR and medical intervention, doctors were unable to save him.
Friends and family described Hariraj as cheerful, friendly, and deeply caring. He maintained strong bonds with his grandmother, parents, and relatives, and regularly stayed connected with loved ones despite his demanding career abroad.
Hariraj completed his B.Tech from CUSAT, Kerala, and M.Tech from IIT Madras, and was admired for his professional achievements as well as his warm personality.
Tributes poured in from colleagues and friends in Dubai and India. Digin’s wife, Sini Susan, shared: “He was more than just a brother. He brought joy, laughter, and fulfillment to our lives. Your loss is unbearable, and the void you've created can't be filled. The kids will miss your fun, gifts, and laughter.”
Hariraj Sudevan’s untimely passing is being mourned widely, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him.
