Udupi, Oct 8: The Golden get-together of the 1975 SSLC batch of St Mary’s High School, Shirva, was a memorable celebration that brought together classmates after five decades to relive the golden moments of their school days was held on October 5 at the Saude Auditorium, Shirva, in an atmosphere filled with warmth, nostalgia, and gratitude.
Addressing the gathering, Fr Dr Leslie D’Souza, parish priest of the Church of Our Lady of Health, Shirva, and correspondent of St Mary’s Institutions, expressed his joy at being part of the occasion. He remarked, “A golden get-together is truly special — it speaks of enduring friendships, cherished memories, and the strong foundation your school has given you. As I look around, I see not just classmates, but a family bound by time and shared experiences. May this celebration rekindle your youthful spirit and remind you of the values that shaped your lives in this school.”






















The chief guest’s words beautifully captured the essence of the occasion, evoking a sense of pride and belonging among all present.
Dr Edward Nazareth, professor of orthopaedic surgery and acclaimed Konkani writer — a proud alumnus of the same batch — delivered the introductory remarks and extended a warm welcome to the gathering. The event commenced with the group singing of the school anthem, “Ninnolume Yemagirali Thande,” which set a nostalgic tone for the re-union.
Several teachers who had taught the batch during their school days were specially invited and felicitated as a mark of love and gratitude. In their heartfelt responses, the teachers fondly recollected their teaching experiences and expressed their appreciation for the students’ affection and thoughtfulness. Kishore Kumar spoke with emotion about the dedication and commitment of the teachers of St Mary’s, recalling their invaluable role in shaping the students’ lives.
As part of the programme, Dr Leslie D’Souza was also honoured as a representative of all the former correspondents who had guided and supported the school’s development through the years. He was introduced by Walter Menezes, while Wilfred D’Souza proposed a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to making the reunion a memorable success.

The golden get-together thus became not only a celebration of friendship and shared memories but also a tribute to the teachers and mentors who laid the foundation for the lifelong bonds cherished by the 1975 batch of St Mary’s High School.
