Riyadh, Oct 7: In a major move towards protecting employee rights and promoting workplace transparency, Saudi Arabia on Monday launched its Unified Employment Contract, a digital and legally binding framework designed to simplify and secure employment relationships across the Kingdom. The new contract aims to ensure fair wages, timely payments, and reduced workplace disputes — marking a significant step forward in the Kingdom’s labor reforms under Vision 2030.
The Unified Employment Contract serves as a standardized agreement between employers and employees, integrated into digital platforms like Qiwa and Najiz, enabling quick registration, verification, and legal enforcement.

According to officials, the contract includes a mandatory wage clause, ensuring full transparency between both parties. Employers must specify the agreed-upon wages in the contract, and employees can directly claim unpaid wages through enforcement courts without lengthy litigation. This approach is expected to drastically reduce salary-related disputes and improve workplace harmony.
Deputy Minister of Justice Dr. Najm Al-Zaid stated that the initiative promotes “justice, transparency, and efficiency” within the Saudi labor market, while Deputy Minister of Human Resources and Social Development Dr. Abdullah Abuthnain emphasized that the contract “empowers workers, safeguards their rights, and strengthens their participation in the national economy.”
Officials highlighted that the initiative aligns with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goals of digitization and administrative modernization. By standardizing employment terms, Saudi Arabia seeks to attract more foreign investment, strengthen employer-employee trust, and foster a more competitive and fair labor market.
