New Delhi, Sep 26: India and the United States have agreed to continue efforts for an early conclusion of a mutually beneficial trade agreement, the Ministry of Commerce & Industry said on Thursday.
The update follows Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal’s official visit to the US from September 22–24, during which he held constructive meetings with Ambassador Jamieson Greer, United States Trade Representative, and Sergio Gor, US Ambassador-designate to India. Both sides exchanged views on the contours of a possible deal and decided to maintain regular engagements to achieve a swift conclusion.

Beyond government-level talks, the Indian delegation also met leading US businesses and investors to boost trade and investment ties. “The meetings with businesses and investors evoked a positive response. The business leaders reposed confidence in the India growth story and expressed their desire to intensify their business activities in India,” the ministry stated.
Earlier this month, a US delegation led by Brendan Lynch visited New Delhi, where both nations reaffirmed their commitment to reach a comprehensive trade agreement. India continues to hold a firm stance on agricultural and dairy sectors while acknowledging the need for a fresh perspective in light of the 50% tariff implementation.
