Doha, Sep 26: Indian travelers in Qatar can now make payments using Unified Payments Interface (UPI), as Qatar Duty Free becomes the first merchant in the country to adopt the system.

The move allows Indian nationals and other UPI users to pay seamlessly at Qatar Duty Free outlets, enhancing convenience and promoting digital transactions for visitors. The adoption of UPI reflects growing international acceptance of India’s digital payment ecosystem, making cross-border purchases easier for Indian tourists.

Qatar Duty Free officials stated that the integration of UPI aims to provide a smooth, cashless experience to customers, aligning with global trends in digital payments. This development is expected to encourage more Indian tourists to use UPI while shopping at various outlets across Qatar.
