AAP’s mashal rally demands arrest of Rama Kankonkar attack mastermind

Navelim, Sep 25: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) intensified its protest on Wednesday, demanding the arrest of the mastermind behind the attack on social activist Rama Kankonkar. Benaulim MLA Venzy Viegas led a mashal (torch) rally from Navelim, declaring that the agitation would continue until the culprit is named and arrested.

The rally, which began on Tuesday evening, is set to pass through all 40 Assembly constituencies across Goa. AAP leaders Sandesh Talekar, Roque Mascarenhas and others joined the march, vowing to keep up the pressure on the government.

MLA Viegas urged Goans to join the protest, warning that social activists would remain vulnerable to the land mafia if the perpetrators go unpunished. “We have taken the mashal rally out from Navelim today. It will pass through the entire State,” he said.

Sending a strong message to the government, Viegas said the agitation would spread statewide if the mastermind remains unidentified. He added that BJP leaders and workers should see the rally as a movement to safeguard the people of Goa, especially children and women, beyond political lines.
