Dr Merlin Rengith Ambrose releases two new books during St Peter’s Pontifical Institute

Bengaluru, Sep 23: Dr Merlin Rengith Ambrose, executive secretary of the Commission for Canon Law in the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India and a residential professor of Canon Law at St Peter’s Pontifical Institute, Bangalore, India, unveiled his two latest books, entitled 1) 'Christian Living' and 2) 'Reforming the Law renewing the Church', at St Peter’s Pontifical Institute, Bengaluru, during the institute’s golden jubilee celebration event. His Eminence Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrao released the books, and the first copies were presented to the 14 archbishops and bishops attending the event.

The first book, 'Christian Living', is a 250-page volume published by St Paul's, Mumbai. It covers the magisterial teachings of the Catholic Church, Canon Law, Synodality, evolving concerns in the Church, Mission and Liturgy. It offers a comprehensive exploration of themes such as 'Magisterial Teaching as a Guiding Compass', 'The Importance of Informed Faith', 'Applying Faith to Modern Challenges', 'Synodal Discernment', and 'The Active Participation of the Laity in the Threefold Mission of Christ'.

Fr Merlin Ambrose's second book, 'Reforming the Law, Renewing the Church', explores topics such as the recent renewal of canonical foundations in the Catholic Church, the neo-humanism of Pope Francis, synodality and lay empowerment, curial and structural reforms in the Church, the primacy of justice in the new penal law, and its theological and pastoral applications. Spanning 350 pages and published by ATC Publishers, Bengaluru, the volume also opens windows onto new horizons of ecclesial reflection and renewal.

Dr Merlin Rengith Ambrose has authored four books on canon law and published numerous research articles in both Indian and international journals. Both books will be available through their respective publishers, with 'Christian Living' distributed by St Paul's, Mumbai and 'Reforming the Law, Renewing the Church' by ATC Publishers, Bengaluru.
