Dakshina Kannada, Udupi get light showers; IMD issues yellow alert for Sept 26–28

Mangaluru/Udupi, Sept 22: Intermittent showers brought brief respite across parts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts on Monday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) now issuing a yellow alert for the coming week.

In Mangaluru and Ullal, light rain fell in the morning, before the skies cleared and gave way to a sunny afternoon. Further inland, Puttur and Bantwal taluks experienced partly cloudy skies, occasional sunshine, and light drizzles in some areas.

Meanwhile, regions including Belthangady, Sullia, Subrahmanya, and Kadaba witnessed moderate showers in the early hours, followed by overcast weather throughout the day.

The IMD has forecast moderate to heavy rainfall for Dakshina Kannada district from September 26 to 28, and has issued a yellow alert for this period, urging residents to remain alert to changing conditions.

In Mangaluru, Monday’s maximum temperature stood at 29.3°C, with a minimum of 23.8°C recorded.

In Udupi district, Kundapura experienced steady overnight rain on Monday, while several other areas reported light daytime showers. Many parts of the district also saw light drizzle on Sunday night.

With the monsoon expected to pick up again later this week, local authorities and the public are advised to stay tuned to daily weather updates and prepare accordingly.
