Puttur, Sep 18: A local court has sentenced a man from Madnoor village to four months of imprisonment and imposed a fine for harassing a young woman while travelling on a KSRTC bus.
The accused has been identified as Mohammad Sattar of Madnoor. On April 25, 2022, a young woman travelling from Sullia to Puttur on a KSRTC bus filed a complaint at Puttur Town Police Station, stating that Sattar, who was seated next to her, had harassed her during the journey. Based on her complaint, the police registered a case.

The then station house officer, Rajesh K V, investigated the case and submitted a chargesheet against the accused to the court.
After hearing the case, principal senior civil judge and JMFC judge of Puttur, Prakruti Kalyanpur, pronounced the verdict, sentencing Mohammad Sattar to four months imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000. In case of default in paying the fine, he will have to undergo an additional one month in jail.
