Udupi, Sep 16: The grand Vittal Pindi festivities at Car Street, Sri Krishna Math, took a vibrant and unexpected twist this year with a Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) victory-themed celebration stealing the spotlight. The highlight was a Virat Kohli lookalike who captivated cricket fans and devotees alike.
Amid the traditional Krishna Janmashtami processions and cultural performances, performers donned the jerseys of RCB stars including Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle, Romario Shepherd, and Danish Sait. Carrying a trophy and waving enthusiastically, they recreated the euphoria of RCB’s IPL triumph, blending sport and devotion in a unique spectacle.

Lakshay, a young man from Haryana bearing a striking resemblance to RCB former captain Virat Kohli, was the star attraction. His presence sparked a frenzy of selfies and cheers from the crowd.
Lakshay shared, “This is my first visit to South India, and I have been overwhelmed by the warmth and love shown by the people of Udupi. The excitement here has been truly special. Witnessing a cultural celebration on such a grand scale is rare. As a passionate RCB fan, this moment means a lot to me. I hope to visit Udupi again. The organisers have done a fantastic job.”
Ramesh Kanchan, president of the Udupi Taluk Guarantee Implementation Committee, said, “Every year, the team brings fresh ideas to Krishna Janmashtami celebrations. This time, introducing a Virat Kohli lookalike from Delhi added a fun and engaging twist. Their creative concepts entertain and raise awareness in unique ways.”
The fusion of cricket fervour with devotional festivities made this year’s Vittal Pindi celebration a memorable event for all.
