AKFK marks 25th anniversary ‘Monthifestacho Rupyothsav’ with grand charity show in Kuwait

Kuwait, Sep 16: Abbasiya Konkani Families Kuwait (AKFK) celebrated its 25th anniversary – Monthifestacho Rupyothsav with a grand charity event in support of Seon Ashram, Beltangady. The event commenced on time with children offering flowers to Mama Mary in a short procession, accompanied by beautiful Marian hymns sung by the St Cecelia Konkani Choir Abbasiya.

The curtain was raised with the theme Jubilee Song, which gave a fitting start to the evening, followed by a graceful prayer dance by the Shining Stars Group.

MC Deepak conducted the formal stage programme. The official inauguration was done with lighting of the lamp by AKFK president Norbert D’Souza, spiritual director Fr Avil Rosario, guest priest Fr Stephen D’Souza, AKFK supporter Lancy Mendonca, event coordinator Morvine Quadras, Platinum sponsor & AKFK member Naveen D’Sa, parish council representatives, ward leaders, and AKFK members.

President Norbert delivered the welcome address and offered the traditional Pan Pod Udak to all guests. Fr Avil gave the feast message, and the dignitaries joined together to cut the cake to mark AKFK’s 25th Silver Jubilee.

One of the highlights of the evening was a spectacular Mother Mary presentation showcasing 25 different titles of Mother Mary dressed in apt costumes, which left the crowd amazed.

Ace compere Roshan D’Silva (Vamanjoor Halwa) made a grand entry with the ALP Band lead by Anil Pais, taking the energy of the show to the next level. Rani Kogul Sonal Monteiro set the stage on fire with her first performance Ye Lagi, followed by Karaval Kogul Anil D’Sa Pangla with the evergreen hit Mariola, and the third overseas artist, chocolate boy Ashwin D’Costa, delivered a rocking performance with Guitarachi Taar.

The Spotlight Crew (kids’ group) mesmerized the audience with their dance performance.

During a short stage programme, AKFK felicitated their esteemed sponsors:

Carmel Sisters, SDC parish priest Fr Sojan Paul, Kuwait City Cathedral chancellor & judicial vicar Fr (Dr) Anthony Lopez, OFM Cap & Manglore Konkans Dubai president Stephen Menezes were also welcomed on stage.

AKFK felicitated several noted persons for their valuable service to the church, and the committee specially honored Norbert for his selfless service towards Abbasiya Church and as a leader of AKFK for the past six years.

The musical evening continued with Laveena Prafulla’s solo performance Jive, beautifully supported by Joves United dance crew. GVOM winner Morvine stole the show with his powerful performance Yo Moga along with EPIC dance group. Gammat Kalakars, led by Lionel Ajekar, presented a hilarious comedy skit that left the audience in laughter riots.

Two duets—Romio Juliet by Laveena & Anil D’Sa, and Kalzantlo Uzo by Morvine & Sonal—electrified the crowd. Master Ethan Cardoza impressed everyone with his electrifying Retro Fusion Dance.

Roshan D’Silva conducted a heartwarming parents’ session with celebrity singers Anil D’Sa, Ashwin, Morvine, Sonal, and Laveena performing emotional numbers (Nido Bala, Teri Ungli, Appa I Love You, Avoi Ti Avoi, Avoi Bapoi), which was much appreciated by the audience.

A fitting tribute was offered to late Eric Ozerio with the performance Rath Dees. A Seon Ashram video was also played, which was well received.

The musical show continued with power-packed solo performances: Dingri Dinga by Ashwin with Desi Dynamics, Mog Kai Zala Konna by Sonal, Mog Mog by Anil Dsa, and Cha Cha by local star Rachel Lobo supported by the Khaitan Stars.

AKFK honored representatives of various associations in Kuwait who supported this event. The blessing of food was done by the visiting priest, and it is noteworthy that homemade Noven Jevan was prepared for over 1400 people—a historic feat—led by the food committee under Ivan Tavro.

The cultural programme continued with a skit Light of the World by Vanitha Suvaris & team, dances by Naach Sobhan and the adult energetic team, epic dance from youth, another comedy skit by Gammat Kalakars, and traditional Goan songs by the Goan Brothers.

Singers energized the crowd with Monglurantle Komble and a mashup (Yore Pavsa / Tu Ye). Another highlight was kids singing traditional marriage songs with Jasion Misquiths live music while AKFK members recreated a wedding scene on stage, delighting the audience.

The vote of thanks was delivered by AKFK secretary Rony Lobo. The event concluded on a high note with live Baila and DJ by Weldon.

The event was covered live by Alban D’Souza and James Paul (FB Live), with photography by Allen Cardoza. Backstage and event coordination were efficiently managed by Lavina Furtado, Arwin/Cristal Rodrigues, Ramya Pais, Anil/ Savitha Tauro. Anand handled sound and lights, while Nilton, Jose & Roshan managed LED and audio.
