Mangaluru/Udupi, Sep 16: After a brief break, several parts of the coastal region received rainfall on Monday morning and afternoon.
The dry spell had caused water shortage for paddy crops in some areas, but the rainfall has brought relief to farmers.
Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts witnessed moderate showers on Monday. In Mangaluru, Ullal, Mulki and Bantwal, it rained in the morning and evening, while the rest of the day saw a mix of sunshine and cloudy weather.

In rural parts of Puttur taluk, moderate showers were recorded, whereas the town received light drizzle. Sullia, Beltangady and Kadaba also experienced moderate rainfall under cloudy skies.
According to the India Meteorological Department, an alert has been issued for September 17 with a forecast of heavy rain, followed by moderate rainfall over the next two to three days. On Monday, Mangaluru recorded a maximum temperature of 28.9°C and a minimum of 22.5°C.
In Udupi district, Karkala received rain late at night and early morning. Kundapur region recorded showers in the morning and evening. Udupi, Padubidri, Katapady, Kapu, Brahmavar and Manipal areas also received moderate rain in the evening, while cloudy conditions prevailed in most parts of the district.
