Byndoor: Rubber tapper from Kerala murdered by co-worker at plantation

Byndoor, Sept 14: A longstanding wage dispute between two rubber tappers ended in a gruesome murder at Devaragadde in Byndoor taluk on Sunday, September 14.

According to police, Uday Kumar (42), a native of Kollam district, Kerala, allegedly stabbed his co-worker Binu Philip (45) in the abdomen with a rubber tapping knife around 1 pm, following a heated argument over payment.

The two workers had been employed as rubber tappers in a local plantation and were living together in a shed on-site for the past two years. Both hailed from Kerala, with Binu Philip originally from Kottayam district.

The stabbing proved fatal, and Binu Philip died on the spot. Uday Kumar fled immediately after the attack but was later tracked down and arrested by Byndoor police. He has since been produced before the court.

Police have registered a case of murder at the Byndoor police station, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the full sequence of events that led to the fatal altercation.
