Panaji, Aug 25: Taking a major step towards its vision of becoming an AI-led state under the Goa AI Mission 2027, the state government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Digital India Bhashini Division of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) to integrate multilingual AI solutions into public systems. The move aims to make governance more inclusive and accessible for citizens across diverse languages and backgrounds.

The MoU between the Department of Information Technology, Electronics and Communications (DITE&C) and MeitY was signed during the event “AI for Governance & Social Impact: Leveraging Technology for Inclusive, Responsible, and Sustainable Public Systems.”

The event brought together leaders from government, academia, and global industry to deliberate on how Artificial Intelligence can strengthen governance with inclusivity and sustainability. The vision, officials said, is to make Goa a living model of how AI can drive ethical and sustainable governance, ensuring innovation translates into social impact and wider participation in the digital economy.

Addressing the gathering, IT Minister Rohan Khaunte said the government is prioritising capacity building, ethical and responsible AI, and converting innovation into tangible social impact. “AI is not just a buzzword, it must remain human-centric,” he stated.

On the MoU, Khaunte emphasised that the mission is shared, and that integrating AI into governance goes beyond efficiency to embrace creativity, inclusivity, and transformation. “Goa embodies a spirit of innovation, openness, and resilience, and is prepared to lead this transformation,” he added.
