Mangaluru: New automated driving test track at Pajir to open on Aug 18

Mangaluru, Aug 16: From August 18, all driving licence tests in Mangaluru will be conducted at the newly built automated driving test track in Pajir, near Mudipu.

The facility, fitted with advanced sensors and monitoring systems, promises greater accuracy, transparency and objectivity in evaluating candidates’ skills. Officials say the shift from manual to automated testing is part of the state’s drive to modernise and digitise transport services.

Although inaugurated earlier, the track’s launch was delayed after its surface became slippery, raising safety concerns. The area has since been cleaned and made ready for use.

The current test ground at Vamanjoor will host its last round of assessments on August 16, after which all testing operations will move to Pajir. Senior RTO and deputy commissioner of transport GK Mallad said that candidates with test slots booked on or after August 18 should report to the new venue.
