Mangaluru: Three-day Sahitya Akademi book exhibition marks VJP Saldanha centenary

Mangaluru, Aug 12: As part of the centenary celebrations of eminent Konkani novelist and journalist VJP Saldanha, the Sahitya Akademi has organised a three-day book exhibition-cum-discount sale from August 12 to 14 at Sahodaya Hall, St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru. The exhibition will remain open to the public between 10 am and 6 pm.

Dr Mahalinga Bhat, Dean, School of Language and Cultural Studies, St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), inaugurated the event. The exhibition features books in Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Marathi, English, and Hindi.

Sahitya Akademi, the National Academy of Letters under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, is also hosting a birth centenary seminar on Saldanha’s life and works from August 13 to 14 at the Robert Sequeira Hall, LCRI Block, St Aloysius (Deemed to be University).

The programme is being held in collaboration with the Konkani Institute of St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) and Vision Konkani. Sahitya Akademi Konkani Advisory Board convenor Melvyn Rodrigues and board member HM Pernal were present at the inaugural.
