Panaji, Aug 12: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has identified five more Goa-based political outfits for possible de-listing as part of its nationwide purge of Registered Unrecognised Political Parties (RUPPs). These are among 476 RUPPs flagged across the country in the second phase of the electoral roll clean-up aimed at enhancing transparency.
The move comes just days after the August 9 action, when 334 parties — including four from Goa, namely Goa Nationalist Party, Goa Praja Party, Goemcarancho Otrec Asro and United Goans Party — were struck off the rolls, reducing the total number of RUPPs from 2,854 to 2,520.

The ECI said the de-listing is part of its continuous strategy to remove parties that have become inactive or exist only on paper. The exercise began in June 2025, when the Commission directed Chief Electoral Officers of States and Union Territories to conduct verification of 345 RUPPs for compliance.
