Chennai, Aug 8: A woman from Tamil Nadu has earned a place in both the Asia Book of Records and the India Book of Records by donating an extraordinary 300 litres of breast milk.
Selva Brinda, a mother of two, donated a total of 300.17 litres of breast milk over a span of 22 months — from April 2023 to February 2025 — to the breast milk bank at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital (MGMGH) in Tiruchirapalli district.
According to a hospital official, her donation has helped save the lives of thousands of premature and ill infants. During the 2023–24 period, Brinda’s contribution accounted for nearly half of all the milk collected at the hospital’s breast milk bank.
Recognising her selfless service, the hospital authorities felicitated Brinda during the World Breastfeeding Week.
