Sullia: Man trampled to death in elephant attack

Sullia, Aug 7: In a tragic incident, a man was killed in an elephant attack late Wednesday night, August 6, at Dabbadka in Chembu village, Madikeri taluk.

The deceased has been identified as Shivappa (72) of Dabbadka Koppad, who reportedly died after being trampled by the elephant.

Around 10:30 pm on August 6, Shivappa had stepped into his plantation near the house to check on a barking dog when the elephant attacked him. Family members immediately attempted to rush him to Sampaje hospital, but he is said to have succumbed to his injuries en route.

The body has been sent to the Madikeri district hospital for post-mortem, sources said.
