Curtorim, Jul 29: Growing concerns over safety and civic neglect have prompted residents of Curtorim to formally demand urgent repairs to a severely damaged internal road in the Gogol area of the constituency. The affected stretch, located near MRF and behind Satyawati Plaza, has reportedly been left unattended for months following repeated utility excavations.

The formal complaint was submitted to the Executive Engineer of the PWD (Roads Division), Margao, by Engr. Roque Virgilio Mascarenhas on behalf of the aggrieved residents. It highlights the plight of over 60 households, including senior citizens above the age of 80, who continue to face daily inconvenience and danger due to the poor condition of the road.

“It is alarming that not even a single meter of this road has been repaired after utility works, posing serious risks to the elderly, children, and other residents,” stated Engr. Mascarenhas in the letter.

The cluster of affected homes includes House Nos. 664 to 730 and 3/5511, 4983, where residents allege they have been left to fend for themselves amidst crumbling road conditions and little to no response from the authorities.

The complaint calls for:

• Immediate inspection by PWD field staff,

• Inclusion of the Gogol internal road in the next round of repair works,

• A written assurance from the department outlining an action plan and timeframe for repairs.

Local residents are now awaiting an official response from the PWD, even as the road’s hazardous condition continues to pose a threat to daily commuters.
