Gaza, Jul 27: The Israeli military on Sunday announced a daily “tactical pause” in its operations in three regions of Gaza, aiming to ease the worsening humanitarian crisis in the war-torn enclave.
According to an official statement, the military will halt operations in Muwasi, Deir al-Balah, and parts of Gaza City from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm daily, starting Sunday and continuing until further notice. While the army claims it is not actively operating in those specific areas, recent weeks have witnessed fighting and airstrikes there.
The military also plans to establish secure humanitarian corridors to facilitate the delivery of essential aid, including food and medical supplies, to civilians.
This decision follows mounting international pressure and warnings from humanitarian agencies about imminent famine in Gaza. Global outrage has intensified in recent weeks as hundreds of Palestinians have reportedly died while attempting to access food aid.
On Saturday, the Israeli military further stated that it would resume airdrops of supplies into Gaza, stepping up efforts to combat hunger even as its military campaign against Hamas continues.
