Udupi, Jul 25: In a bribery case, Renuka, the deputy director of the audit department of the Udupi District Cooperative Society, and Jayaram, a first grade assistant, were caught red-handed by the Lokayukta police for demanding a bribe to conduct elections of a Souharda Cooperative Society.
The two had allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 - Rs 5,000 each - to facilitate the administrative board elections of the Souharda Cooperative Society. Narendra, the chief executive officer of the Shantiniketan Souharda Cooperative Society, had filed a complaint regarding the bribe demand with the Udupi Lokayukta police.

Renuka was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe at her office in Udupi during a raid conducted by the Lokayukta police.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Mangaluru Lokayukta superintendent of police Kumarachandra. DySP Manjunath Shankarahalli, inspector Rajendra Nayak, and other officers were part of the team that executed the action.
