Mangaluru, Jul 25: After two days of severe traffic congestion, vehicular movement has resumed on the Kulur bridge.

Heavy traffic was first observed on the evening of July 22, and on July 23, vehicles were seen lined up along the Kottara–Panambur route throughout the day. Police had a tough time managing the traffic as the flow could not be streamlined effectively.

On Wednesday, the joint road near the old arch bridge at Kulur was repaired. The joint road has now been widened. However, concrete layers have been laid on the edges, and barricades have been put in place to ensure proper curing. As a result, vehicles are required to move slowly in this section.

Interlocking has been done at the entrance of the old Kulur bridge where potholes had developed. However, potholes have also emerged on both bridges, and the patchwork has worn off, posing a danger that continues to be neglected. According to sources in the highway authority, the bridge surface will be repaired only after the monsoon season ends.
