Noida, Jul 24: In a significant step towards enhancing urban mobility in the National Capital Region (NCR), the Central government has approved the extension of the Noida Metro’s Aqua Line from Depot Station to the upcoming Multimodal Transport Hub (MMTH) at Bodaki. The extension is scheduled for completion within three years.
The Detailed Project Report (DPR), already cleared by the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet, will now move into the construction phase under the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC).
Spanning 2.6 km, the project will add two new stations — Junpat Village and Bodaki — to the existing Depot Station. The Bodaki MMTH is set to become a major regional hub, integrating an interstate bus terminal (ISBT), railway station, and local bus services to provide seamless multimodal connectivity.
The new stretch will operate on standard gauge tracks (1,435 mm) with a 25 kV AC overhead traction system managed via SCADA technology. While a topographical survey has been completed, geotechnical studies are ongoing.
Estimated to cost Rs 416.34 crore, the project will be implemented through a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) model under NMRC. Funding will be sourced as follows: 20% from the Centre (Rs 70.59 crore), 24% from the UP government (Rs 91.08 crore), 60% from loans/NCR Planning Board (Rs 211.80 crore), and the remainder via PPP and land components.
Additionally, the Aqua Line extension from Sector-51 (Noida) to Knowledge Park V (Greater Noida), approved by the UP government last November, has received in-principle clearance from the Centre's Network Planning Group (NPG) and awaits final approval from the Public Investment Board (PIB).
Another corridor — between Sector-142 and Botanical Garden — was approved by the state government in June and has also received in-principle backing after review in the 90th NPG meeting.
