Media Release

Udupi, Jul 25: The much-anticipated historical drama Koti Chennayer, depicting the legendary tale of the twin folk heroes of Tulunadu — Koti and Chennayya — will be staged on Sunday, July 27 at 2 pm at Xavier Hall, Udyavara. The event is being organised by Sri Narayana Guru Yuva Vedike (R), Udupi.

Directed by the team behind the recently released film Dharma Chavadi, this theatrical presentation will be brought to life by the Mangaluru-based troupe Prakruthi Kalavider Kudla. It will be the troupe’s first performance of Koti Chennayer in Udupi district. Entry to the show is free.

Sri Narayana Guru Yuva Vedike, known for its cultural initiatives and social outreach, has previously organised acclaimed productions such as Shudra Shiva, Gejje Giri Kshetra Mahatme, and Shambhu Kallu Kshetra Mahatme, all rooted in regional history and religious heritage. In addition to Tulu and Kannada dramas, the Vedike regularly promotes the philosophy of Sri Narayana Guru, notably through Guru Sandesha — a platform featuring talks by eminent speakers focused on the message of “One Caste, One Religion, One God.”

The staging of Koti Chennayer marks the Vedike’s third major cultural initiative of 2025 within just seven months. Titled Birth of the Brave – Koti Chennayer, the drama is both a devotional and historical tribute and is expected to draw scholars, dignitaries, and a large audience of art lovers.

Sri Narayana Guru Yuva Vedike (R), Udupi, has extended an open invitation to all art enthusiasts and the general public to attend and experience this cultural celebration.
