Mangaluru, Jul 24: In view of continuous heavy rainfall across Dakshina Kannada district and a red alert issued by the meteorological department, the District Disaster Management Authority has announced emergency measures, including a holiday for educational institutions on Friday, July 25.
According to the official press release issued by the office of the deputy commissioner and district magistrate of Dakshina Kannada, all Anganwadi centres, primary and high schools, PU colleges, government, aided and private educational institutions across the district will remain closed on July 25.

The following precautionary steps have been also been advised:
- Parents have been advised to ensure children do not venture near water bodies, including low-lying areas, lakes, rivers, and the seashore.
- Fisherfolk have been strictly instructed not to venture into the sea.
- District- and taluk-level officials have been directed to remain stationed at their headquarters and actively oversee disaster management operations.
- Nodal officers appointed by the district administration for various regions must remain alert and promptly respond to public grievances, maintaining constant contact with the District Control Room.
- Tourists and the general public have been advised not to visit riversides or coastal areas.
- All department officers concerned have been directed to open control rooms in every taluk and maintain a state of readiness.

The deputy commissioner, who also serves as the chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority, has urged the public to remain cautious and cooperate with the administration in ensuring safety during the ongoing extreme weather conditions.
