St Agnes College students empowered with stock market insights at ‘Anybody Can Trade 1.0’ workshop

Mangaluru, July 23: St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, recently hosted a dynamic workshop titled “Anybody Can Trade 1.0”, jointly organised by the departments of commerce and business administration in collaboration with Vinith D’Costa and Associates, one of Mangaluru’s top-rated trading academies.

The event was held in the Centenary Auditorium on July 18.

Vinith Oscar D’Costa, founder and director of VD Academy and a certified NISM research analyst, led the workshop, accompanied by his team of experts:

  • Aathish Nayak, head of operations and mentor

  • Anvitha, admin head and mentor

  • Vincent D’Costa, business relations officer

  • Joel D’Souza, digital head

D’Costa shared valuable insights on key aspects of the stock market, including:

  • Fundamentals and benefits of stock market investing

  • Practical tips for entering the market and selecting stocks

  • Risk management and mitigation strategies

  • Importance of diversification in investment portfolios

  • Market trend analysis and informed decision-making

  • Long-term wealth creation strategies

  • Technical analysis and chart patterns

  • Role of discipline and patience in investing

  • Common pitfalls and misconceptions in stock trading

The workshop saw enthusiastic participation from students across various streams including BCom, BBA, MBA, BA, BSc, and MCA. The event was compered by Ivin Sequeira from III BCom (ACCA), under the guidance of Dr Devi Prabha Alva, staff coordinator of the workshop, along with heads of the departments Vineetha N T (commerce) and Anitha S (business administration).

The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks by Dan Charles from III BCom, who expressed gratitude to the organisers, speakers, and participants.

The event was well-received, with students describing it as insightful, engaging, and thought-provoking. It served as an excellent opportunity to gain real-world exposure to stock trading and investment from experienced professionals in the field.
