Puttur, Jul 23: In the Swachh Survekshan 2024–25 conducted by the ministry of housing and urban affairs, the Puttur city municipal council has secured the 8th rank in Karnataka.
Puttur's inclusion in the state's Top 10 urban local bodies (ULBs) is the result of its comprehensive, innovative, and citizen-centric approach to solid waste and sanitation management. The city has achieved 100% door-to-door waste collection and has implemented an effective waste processing system.

Numerous cleanliness initiatives have been undertaken in the city, including the establishment of a biogas plant and an e-waste collection unit through public-private partnership, which earned special recognition in the survey. Puttur had previously also earned rankings under the Swachh Survekshan initiative.
“We were ranked 6th under the CMC category in the state last time. This time, we have moved up to 2nd place,” said municipal commissioner Madhu S Manohar.
